We are excited to share some big news from the Upstate Bug Busters team.
Our founder and owner, Blake Mahieu, has been selected to be in the running for Entrepreneur of Impact, a national competition led by Daymond John of Shark Tank.
The winner of the competition will receive $25,000, be featured in Entrepreneur Magazine, and participate in a one-on-one mentorship session with Daymond John. It’s an incredible opportunity for any entrepreneur, and we are proud to see Blake recognized among inspiring business leaders from across the country.
From Cutting Lawns at 11 to Building Upstate Bug Busters
Blake’s entrepreneurial journey began long before Upstate Bug Busters.
At just 11 years old, he started his first small business cutting lawns in his neighborhood. What started as a simple way to earn money quickly grew into something much bigger—a passion for entrepreneurship, hard work, and building something meaningful.
At 20 years old, Blake is now the founder of Upstate Bug Busters, a company dedicated to helping families enjoy their outdoor spaces with 100% all-natural tick and mosquito control.
From the beginning, the goal has been simple: deliver exceptional service and create a company people are proud to work with and proud to support.
A Mission Bigger Than Tick and Mosquito control
While Upstate Bug Busters focuses on tick and mosquito control, the mission goes beyond simply treating properties.
Our work allows families to enjoy their backyards again, spend time outside with their children and pets, and feel comfortable in their own outdoor spaces.
One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is hearing customers say that they wouldn’t be able to use their yard if it wasn’t for our service. Moments like that remind us why this business exists—to help people.
